The 2025 Cartier Privé Tank à Guichets in yellow gold represents one of the most intellectually compelling and historically grounded designs in modern haute horlogerie. Originally introduced in 1928, the Tank à Guichets was radically futuristic for its time, replacing traditional hands with a digital-style display revealed through two discreet apertures. Nearly a century later, Cartier revives this bold concept with remarkable fidelity and refinement. Housed in a compact yet perfectly proportioned case measuring 24.8mm by 37.6mm and only 6mm thick, the new Tank à Guichets stays true to the brutalist, closed-dial architecture that defines the model. The vertically brushed yellow gold case gives the watch a utilitarian, almost architectural presence, softened by subtle polished bevels along the sides and around the apertures. The result is a watch that feels both severe and elegant. Powering the watch is the new hand-wound calibre 9755 MC. The crown is returned to its historically correct position at 12 o’clock, reinforcing the connection to the original 1920s examples. Produced in limited numbers as part of the Cartier Privé collection, this brand-new, unworn 2025 example is rarely seen in the market, and one of the most distinctive modern expressions of the Tank lineage.
