Vintage Rolex Air-King – Rare Early Explorer-Style Dial (c.1950s) An exceptional example of a mid-1950s Rolex Air-King, distinguished by its rare early Explorer-style dial featuring 3-6-9 Arabic numerals with arrow indices and “Super Precision” gilt text. This configuration was produced for a short transitional period before Rolex standardised the Air-King with baton markers, making it significantly scarcer than later and more commonly encountered variants. The dial is original, displaying honest, even patina consistent with age and long-term preservation. Importantly, it has not been refinished, retaining its correct fonts, layout, and character — a key consideration for collectors. Housed in a classic 34 mm Oyster case, this watch is paired with a period-correct Rolex rivet Oyster bracelet, an increasingly difficult-to-find and highly desirable component that adds materially to both value and collectability.
